How listings are researched

Each listing starts with the episode: the network's episode guide and the broadcast itself establish which restaurant, bar or hotel was featured and when. The place is then located and its current status checked against its own website and social accounts, local news coverage, public business and licensing records where a city or country publishes them, and map and review listings. A status is published only when a named, dated source supports it, under the rules in the Editorial & Corrections Policy; every page shows its sources and the date it was last checked, and listings are re-checked on a rotating schedule.

The site covers 5,870 restaurants, bars and hotels from 21 shows across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Counts of what is open and closed, by show and by place, are on the statistics page.
