The restaurant, run by the Chang family, specializes in Chinese dumplings and Asian noodle dishes, according to The Brazen Gourmets' profile of the business. KSHB and Fox4KC both reported that the 39th Street location served its last day of business on May 25, 2021, more than seven years after the episode aired. The owners said in a Facebook post, quoted by KSHB, that they were "consolidating" operations at Blue Koi's other location.
