What happened after Bar Rescue?

El K'rajo, a beachfront bar in the Piñones section of Loíza, Puerto Rico, anchored the special Bar Rescue episode "Operation: Puerto Rico," which aired July 22, 2018. Unlike a typical rescue built around owner mismanagement, this episode centered on recovery from Hurricane Maria: the storm had torn the roof off the bar and buried the space under roughly six feet of sand, leaving the owners without a working business and, according to the episode, in danger of losing their home. Jon Taffer's team rebuilt the physical bar from the ground up and brought in a wider group to help, including Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Mavericks player J.J. Barea, actor Luis Guzmán, entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel, and musician Bernie Williams. Along with the bar itself, the team repaired the local community center, known as Centro Comunal Piñones-Loíza, along with its playground, baseball field, and basketball court, all of which had also been damaged by the hurricane; Taffer personally covered $12,000 of the owners' mortgage to keep them from losing their house.
