Man v. Food's Rutgers University episode (aired 2009-12-09) sent host Adam Richman to R.U. Hungry?, a New Brunswick sandwich counter built around the Rutgers Fat sandwich tradition. The business traces to the Fat Cat, a loaded sandwich invented in 1979, and grew further in 1997 when student Darrell Butler created the Fat Darrell — chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks and French fries stacked with lettuce, tomato and marinara — which Maxim magazine later named the country's top sandwich.
