Renate's German Restaurant is a family-owned German restaurant and bakery in Hanover Park, Illinois, run by married co-owners Renate and Mike Smith. The business traces back to Cookies a la Carte, a bakery Renate and Mike founded in 2008 after Renate left an office career; it grew into today's full-service restaurant, with Renate serving as executive chef and Mike as front-of-house manager.
