Sherman's Restaurant had operated at the corner of Main and Reed streets in Greenville, Mississippi since 1947, evolving from a neighborhood grocery with a lunch counter into a full-service restaurant by 1985. By the time Gordon Ramsay's crew filmed the fourth episode of the season in late 2017, the 30-year-old restaurant needed a stronger kitchen leader and an updated approach to keep serving its longtime regulars. Ramsay's 24-hour turnaround brought a refreshed menu, a new head chef, and updated decor before reopening to customers.

Owners Allison and Peter Nimrod, who had run Sherman's since 2012, kept much of Ramsay's menu and continued operating successfully after the episode aired in July 2018. A fire broke out on January 8, 2021, in the restaurant's vent-hood system and spread through the attic; Greenville Fire Department units brought the blaze under control within about 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported, but the building sustained heavy fire, smoke, and water damage, according to ddtonline.com at the time.
