What happened after Restaurant: Impossible (Food Network)?

On Restaurant: Impossible (Food Network), Robert Irvine visited Sullivan's Grill in Fruita, Colorado, run by single mother Ginny Sullivan. According to the episode and contemporary local reporting, the restaurant was on the edge of financial collapse, and Sullivan, raising two teenagers largely on her own, was overwhelmed trying to manage both her family and daily operations. Irvine's team spent two days in early October 2011 redesigning the dining room, refreshing the menu, and coaching kitchen and front-of-house staff, working within the show's standard $10,000 budget. The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported that Sullivan felt Irvine, though sharply critical on camera, went easier on her than on some past subjects once he learned of her circumstances, and that an unusually large number of local volunteers turned out to help with the two-day overhaul, a response Sullivan said the show's producers told her they had never seen at that scale before. The episode aired January 4, 2012. In the same Daily Sentinel article, published two days later, Sullivan said October sales reached about $42,000, one of the restaurant's best months, and that November and December remained stronger than before the makeover, though not as strong as October. Despite that bump, Sullivan told the paper she had decided to sell the restaurant, saying she could not continue to run it while raising her children on her own; she credited the show's new decor, menu, and publicity with making the business more attractive to a prospective buyer. No subsequent reporting was found describing a completed sale or a successor business opening at 229 E. Aspen Avenue. A Yelp listing for the address is marked permanently closed, last updated in August 2025, and no evidence of a currently operating restaurant at the address was found during this research. Fruita's downtown commercial strip along Aspen Avenue has seen only modest turnover since 2012, and no news report located during this research describes a new restaurant occupying the former Sullivan's Grill space.
