Boardwalk 11 was a bar and restaurant in the Palms neighborhood of Los Angeles, the latest venture from owner Steven, whose earlier restaurants had each closed before this one. When Gordon Ramsay's crew visited in November 2018, head chef Kat wanted more authority over the kitchen but had not been given real control or the ability to discipline her cooks, several of whom showed up late or hungover. Ramsay, arriving with a group of disguised motorcyclists, found a modernized bar area paired with an outdated dining room, and ordered sliders, burgers, and meatballs that came out quickly but tasted, in his assessment, as though they had been cooked well in advance and reheated. Hidden-camera footage shown to the group documented a dirty kitchen with pest activity, a staff member drinking on shift, and reviews describing inappropriate behavior toward female customers from at least one male employee.

For the relaunch, Ramsay's team reworked the concept into more of a gastropub, cleared out spoiled meat and produce found during the renovation, and promoted Kat to run the kitchen, a change that led her to dismiss the male employee whose conduct had been raised in the customer reviews. The relaunch dinner started roughly, with communication problems in the kitchen, but recovered after Ramsay paused service to reset the team, and the night ended with food moving steadily again. The owner committed to giving staff more input going forward.

In the months following the February 2019 episode, an account on realitytvupdates.com states the promoted staff lost some of the authority they had gained, and the previously dismissed employees returned to their old roles. Despite that, the business itself continued operating under a broadened concept, now branded Boardwalk 11 Karaoke Bar and Grill, combining its original bar-and-grill menu with a nightly karaoke format. The business's own website remains active, offering online table reservations, a current food and drink menu, and a phone-order option, and links to press coverage of the restaurant's karaoke nights.
