Wikipedia reported that Wian began franchising in the 1940s under the "Bob's Big Boy" name for company-owned locations, that Marriott Corporation bought the chain in 1967, and that Marriott sold the Big Boy trademark to Michigan franchisee Elias Brothers in 1987 while keeping the Bob's Big Boy name for its own restaurants.
