What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?
Hey Meatball was a meatball restaurant at 719 College Street in Toronto's Little Italy that appeared in the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives episode “Eurocentric,” which aired 2013-02-24. Toronto Life, introducing the restaurant on 2011-09-19, described chef-owner Rodney Bowers's menu of mix-and-match meatballs with a choice of protein, sauce and side, meatball subs in three sizes, and a signature item called the Rodfather, three pork-and-beef meatballs in spicy veal bolognese. Post City reported on 2016-03-09 that the College Street restaurant had closed the previous month and that a burger restaurant, Burgatory, was due to open in the space by late April.
BlogTO's roundup of notable February closures, whose page carries no date but sits under a 2016-03 web address, listed the restaurant as sold and shuttered, and noted that Bowers's meatballs were still available at a Leslieville location. A Google Maps listing checked on 2026-10-19 marks the College Street address permanently closed.
