Zocalo was a Mexican restaurant in Philadelphia's University City neighborhood, run by husband-and-wife owners Gregory and Mary Russell, who met while working there -- Greg tending bar and Mary making tortillas -- before marrying and buying the business. Zocalo appeared in the March 30, 2012 episode of Kitchen Nightmares (Philadelphia Magazine's later coverage cited March 23, 2012 as the air date). The episode showed a restaurant roughly $750,000 in debt, with Greg working constantly and Mary managing day-to-day operations in a way employees found difficult; the couple's two daughters, who also worked at Zocalo, were caught between them, with one telling Ramsay the business was "destroying the family."
