What Happened to La Cubana After You Gotta Eat Here!? (Toronto, ON)

La Cubana, a Cuban diner with several locations in Toronto, was featured in the You Gotta Eat Here! episode "La Cubana, The Bull BBQ Pit, Garrison House" (S3E19, Food Network Canada, aired 2014-06-13). TheTVDB's episode description says host John Catucci visited a Cuban diner for a guava BBQ short rib sandwich with yuca frita. Daily Hive reported on 2017-10-03 that siblings Pablo and Corinna Mozo already ran La Cubana restaurants at 392 Roncesvalles Avenue and 92 Ossington Avenue when they opened a third at 1030 Gerrard Street East.

BlogTO's undated page for the Gerrard Street branch carries a now-closed label and mentions that the space was renamed Bar Habana. Because that branch opened after the episode aired, the branch the show visited is not confirmed here. Google Maps results for the name pointed to La Cubana Wholesale, a Latin American food wholesaler on Oakwood Avenue, which is a different business.

BlogTO's article on La Cubana, filed under June 2026 in its web address, reported that the La Cubana at 92 Ossington Avenue would have its last day on June 28, with co-owner Pablo Mozo citing the aftermath of the pandemic and rising costs. The same article said the Roncesvalles restaurant had been taken over by Proper less than a year earlier and that the location in The Well did not appear to be going anywhere for the time being. BlogTO's listing for the Roncesvalles La Cubana, checked 2026-10-19, carries a Now Closed label. Toronto Life reported on 2014-01-13 that the restaurant at 392 Roncesvalles Avenue was the new Caribbean restaurant from Corinna Mozo.
