What happened after Bar Rescue?
Park 77 was a bar in the Parkmerced Shopping Center near San Francisco State University, opened in 2011. On the episode "Sticky Situation" (aired 2015-06-21), the bar was shown struggling under an owner whose approach to running the business drew sharp criticism from host Jon Taffer during the rescue, in one of the more contentious owner exchanges the show has aired. As part of the remodel, Taffer renamed the bar The Lister after Dr. Frederic Lister Burk, the founding president of San Francisco State University, aiming to connect the venue more directly with the nearby student and campus community. The relaunch included a redesigned interior and the addition of an outdoor beer garden.
The Lister kept its new name and continued operating in the Parkmerced Shopping Center for several years after the rescue aired, drawing a mix of students, campus-area residents and sports-watching customers. Despite the redesign, The Lister closed in early 2021.
The Cambon Drive space did not sit empty for long. According to an October 2025 report from What Now San Francisco, local operators Fearghal McEleney and Kayla Johnson filed a liquor license application to open a new concept, Mister G's Sports Bar, at 77 Cambon Drive, the former Lister site. The report described plans for nine televisions and a sports-focused atmosphere aimed at the student and local game-day crowd, with the operators still weighing whether to add an on-site food menu given nearby options such as Taqueria Dos Charros and Hall of Flame Burger & Breakfast. At the time of that report, Mister G's Sports Bar was targeting a mid-December 2025 opening.
As of this update, independent confirmation that Mister G's Sports Bar has opened and is operating at the address could not be located; the October 2025 liquor-license report remains the most recent available account of activity at the location.
