What happened after Bar Rescue?

Plush was a roughly 1,800-square-foot bar in the Keswick Village section of Glenside, Pennsylvania, opened in 2003 by married couple Bruno Smoje and Sharisma Herrmann across from the Keswick Theater. By the time Bar Rescue's crew arrived to film "A Dash of Bitters" (aired November 16, 2014), Smoje and Herrmann had divorced, and Herrmann, who had run the bar's day-to-day operations and built a loyal following, had left the business amid a contentious separation, taking many regular customers with her. The episode centered on that rift between the co-owners, along with a struggling staff and a fading customer base. Jon Taffer's team brought in mixologist Mia Mastroianni and chef Nick Liberato to rebuild the bar's food and drink program, and the show rebranded the space as Osteria Calabria, an Italian-themed bar and cafe, with new decor and a new food menu. Smoje thanked Taffer's crew publicly, posting on the bar's Facebook page that the rescue had provided "a new concept and look" after nearly 12 years running the business as Plush. Six weeks after the visit, sales were reported up more than 20 percent. Smoje later renamed the business again, to The O.C. Bar and Bistro, moving away from the show's Italian branding. The business closed for good in May 2015, less than a year after the episode aired, after the building that housed it was sold to a new owner, according to a 2024 Glenside Local report. In that same report, Herrmann said the bar's underlying decline had begun before the show's visit, adding that "a lot of people in town" assumed the show had caused the closure. She went on to open Bettie Jack Studio and Gallery in Keswick Village in 2016; Smoje separately opened Tavern on Pine in nearby Huntingdon Valley the same year, which Glenside Local reported in 2024 had closed a few years earlier. As of the Glenside Local report, the original address was occupied by Nagomi, a Japanese restaurant unconnected to the Bar Rescue business or its prior owners.
