What happened after You Gotta Eat Here!?

Season 4, episode 12 of You Gotta Eat Here! (aired 2015-04-17) featured The Smoke, a barbecue restaurant in Collingwood, Ontario, according to TVmaze's episode summary. The owner, who signs as Chef Cam, wrote on the restaurant's website that he opened TheSmoke on December 12, 2012, building the brand and recipes from scratch, and that the Food Network feature in 2014 put it on the map. In a farewell message on the site in July 2026, the owner said the decision to sell and close was made about 60 days earlier, citing rising food and labour costs.

He wrote that dine-in reopened on May 25, 2022 after 808 days, gave Saturday, July 25 as the last day of service, and said a new tenant would take over the space on July 31, 2026. The message also offered the brand, recipes, techniques and smokers for sale (thesmoke.ca). A Google Maps listing viewed 2026-10-19 marks the business permanently closed.
