What happened after Kitchen Nightmares?

Yanni's Greek Restaurant has operated in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood since 1984, when it took over from a previous business called the Lakeside Cafe and became a family-run Greek restaurant. By the time Ramsay's crew visited for the show's first trip to Seattle, longtime owner Peter Avgoustiou, who had taken over from his father, was running a restaurant whose neighborhood had changed around it, with business slower than in earlier years. Staff and family members described Peter as resistant to change and, according to the episode, in denial about how far the restaurant's food and decor had fallen behind, which had become a source of conflict within the family. Ramsay found an encyclopedic, dated menu and worn decor that no longer matched the neighborhood or its customers.

During the visit Ramsay convinced Peter to pare down the sprawling menu, refresh the dining room, and change practices that staff said were driving customers away. The relaunch drew a positive response to the newly focused menu and updated space, and the restaurant continued operating on largely the same footing established during the episode.

The Seattle Times and Seattle-area outlet MyNorthwest both later described a restaurant that saw a surge of new interest after the episode aired in March 2013, driven by curious diners wanting to see the place from the show. That interest did not fade into a short-term bump: the restaurant's own website continues to promote its "Kitchen Nightmares" history to customers, and Yelp's business listing for the restaurant, updated as of September 2026, shows an active four-star average with recent customer reviews. A review published by The Infatuation on January 8, 2026 praised the restaurant's homemade gyro meat and braised gigante beans, describing it as one of the city's better Greek spots. Yanni's continues to operate today at its original Greenwood Avenue address under Peter Avgoustiou's ownership, with no indication of a change in ownership or name since the show first visited in 2013.
