Is Kingston Estate Still Open? The Hotel Inspector Update (Staverton, UK)

Kingston Estate, a country house near Totnes in Devon, appeared in the sixth-series Hotel Inspector episode 'Kingston Estate', which aired on Channel 5 on 2010-08-26 with Alex Polizzi. TheTVDB's episode listing describes a luxury bed and breakfast with guesthouses, a spa and a conference facility, run by Liz Corfield and her husband Michael, with falling guest numbers and the effects of the recession. The same listing says Alex suggested room revamps and more assertive marketing, and that the couple seemed unwilling to follow her advice.

Wikipedia's article on Kingston, Staverton, says Michael and Elizabeth Corfield bought the dilapidated house and 10 acres in 1985, repaired it, and let out cottages, outbuildings and bed-and-breakfast rooms. It adds that they offered the property for sale in February 2011 at an asking price of 3 million pounds. Wikipedia does not say who owns the estate today.

The estate has a different public focus now. Its own website (kingston-estate.co.uk), whose latest timestamp reads October 2024, presents it as an exclusive country house venue for weddings, corporate events and celebrations, with barns, cottages, a shepherd's hut and a Georgian manor house that can accommodate over 100 guests, and it takes enquiries by WhatsApp. The wedding directory Bridebook lists a 35-acre estate with 50 bedrooms across the main house, cottages and barns, and shows 40 reviews, the two most recent dated 2026-06-24. A Google Places listing for the estate was marked operational when checked on 2026-10-20. The estate's own website does not mention the episode, the bed and breakfast or the spa.
