What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5) visited the Sandygate Hotel in Wath-upon-Dearne, near Rotherham in South Yorkshire, for an episode that aired on 12 August 2010 (series 6, episode 4). According to the show's episode list on Wikipedia, host Alex Polizzi found poor signage, an empty noticeboard and almost no online presence, although she thought the bedrooms were good. A description of the hotel on the dnata Travel website lists en suite rooms, a restaurant with an a la carte and a seasonal set menu, a bar serving snacks, a four-poster bridal room, and a function room that takes up to 80 seated guests for weddings, christenings and funerals.

The Caterer reported on 20 July 2012 that the hotel's tenants had left and that about 50 couples with wedding receptions booked there were affected. The same article, which credited the Yorkshire Post, said a new landlord, Glyn Atmore, had reopened the hotel and was offering those couples discounted rates to rebook, matching any price they had been quoted elsewhere. It described the building as owned by the brewery company Trust Inns and noted that the hotel had appeared on The Hotel Inspector.

A Google Maps record places the Sandygate Hotel on Sandygate in Wath upon Dearne, postcode S63 7LN, and its coordinates are used for this entry. No source read for this entry describes how the hotel has traded since 2012, and the dnata Travel page carries no hotel-specific dates; its only date is a 2026 copyright line for the travel site itself.
