What happened after The F Word: Britain's Best Local Restaurant?
Salvo's, an Italian restaurant on Otley Road in Headingley, Leeds, appeared in the opening heat of Britain's Best Local Restaurant, the series 5 search on Gordon Ramsay's The F Word (Channel 4), in the episode "Italian Restaurants" shown on 2009-11-03. Wikipedia's series table lists it at 73 out of 100 against 71 for Prosecco of Bristol, and does not list it among the semi-finalists. The same page says the finalists served signature dishes to panels of diners at their own restaurants. The Yorkshire Post reported on 2023-05-30 that the restaurant opened in 1976, was named for the late father of brothers John and Gip, and that the brothers planned to retire and sell the business after running it for 46 years.
The Yorkshire Evening Post, in a feature published 2026-07-29 on businesses lost during 2026, reported that Salvo's closed in January. A public listing checked on 2026-10-19 shows the Otley Road address as temporarily closed, and the restaurant's website returned an empty page on 2026-10-20.
