What happened after The F Word: Britain's Best Local Restaurant? 2 episodes

Part 1 — Season 1, Episode 5 Aired

Simply Thai, a Thai restaurant at 196 Kingston Road in Teddington, took the Thai heat of Britain's Best Local Restaurant on Gordon Ramsay's The F Word (Channel 4) in the episode "Thai Restaurants" shown on 2009-12-01, scoring 82 out of 100 against 62 for Yum Yum of Stoke Newington, and Wikipedia lists it in the second semi-final on 2010-01-06. Wikipedia's table adds that the finalists served signature dishes to panels of diners at their own restaurants. A Squaremeal review says the appearance on Ramsay's show made the restaurant widely known and that demand then went beyond what it could supply.

Squaremeal lists the cuisine as Thai and the address as 196 Kingston Road, London TW11 9JD; its listing page, whose user reviews date from October and November 2011, marks the restaurant as closed without giving a date. A public listing checked on 2026-10-19 also marks the Kingston Road address permanently closed.

Part 2 — Season 1, Episode 11 Aired

On 2010-01-06, in the episode "Everything is On the Line", Simply Thai appeared in the second semi-final of Britain's Best Local Restaurant on Gordon Ramsay's The F Word (Channel 4), alongside The Pheasant of Keyston and Retsina of Belsize Park, according to Wikipedia's series table. The table says the semi-finalists had served signature dishes to panels of diners at their own restaurants and then cooked in a cook-off at Ramsay's Royal Hospital Road restaurant in Chelsea; it gives no scores or dishes for the semi-finals. Simply Thai had reached this stage by scoring 82 against 62 for Yum Yum in the Thai heat shown on 2009-12-01. Squaremeal lists Simply Thai as a Thai restaurant at 196 Kingston Road in Teddington, and its review says the Ramsay appearance raised the restaurant's profile.
