What happened after The F Word: Britain's Best Local Restaurant?

Discovery Bay, a Caribbean restaurant and cocktail bar at 12 Wood Street in Huddersfield, lost the heat shown on 2009-12-15 in the episode "American Restaurants" of Britain's Best Local Restaurant on Gordon Ramsay's The F Word (Channel 4), scoring 75 out of 100 against 86 for Santa Maria del Sur, according to Wikipedia. The Huddersfield Examiner, in an undated article, reported that owner Barrington Douglas cooked a rum pork main course at Ramsay's restaurant for the show, that it became Discovery Bay's top-selling dish, and that the restaurant opened in 2006 with 36 covers, with chef La Shaun Price managing day to day. A second undated Examiner article described the restaurant as Caribbean-inspired, said it closed in June, and reported that the site became TJ Thai and Japanese restaurant, the first Japanese restaurant on Wood Street. A public listing checked on 2026-10-19 also marks Discovery Bay permanently closed.
