What happened after The F Word: Britain's Best Local Restaurant?
Part 1 — Season 1, Episode 8 Aired
The Pheasant, a thatched pub in the village of Keyston, Cambridgeshire, scored 80 out of 100 against 79 for The Swan of West Malling in the heat shown on 2009-12-22 in the episode "British Restaurants - Christmas Special" of Britain's Best Local Restaurant on Gordon Ramsay's The F Word (Channel 4), according to Wikipedia. Wikipedia lists it in the second semi-final on 2010-01-06 and as runner-up to Lasan in the final on 2010-01-07. The Morning Advertiser reported on 2012-01-25 that Jay and Taffeta Scrimshaw, who ran the pub, had left, that the Huntsbridge Group, its original owner, had taken it back and reopened it, and that Simon Cadge, from the group's Old Bridge Hotel in Huntingdon, was running the kitchen; the article described the pub as crowned Best British Restaurant on the show in 2010. The pub's website, last modified 2026-10-14, describes a restored thatched country pub serving modern British seasonal food, lists opening hours and October 2026 menus, and links a Christmas 2026 booklet.
Part 2 — Season 1, Episode 11 Aired
On 2010-01-06, in the episode "Everything is On the Line", The Pheasant appeared in the second semi-final of Britain's Best Local Restaurant on Gordon Ramsay's The F Word (Channel 4), alongside Simply Thai of Teddington and Retsina of Belsize Park, according to Wikipedia's series table. The table says the semi-finalists had served signature dishes to panels of diners at their own restaurants and then cooked in a cook-off at Ramsay's Royal Hospital Road restaurant in Chelsea; it gives no scores or dishes for the semi-finals. The Pheasant had reached this stage by scoring 80 against 79 for The Swan in the British heat shown on 2009-12-22. The Morning Advertiser, on 2012-01-25, said the pub had been crowned Best British Restaurant on the show in 2010, and the pub's own website, last modified 2026-10-14, describes it as a thatched country pub in Keyston.
