What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5) visited The Grosvenor Hotel in Rugby, Warwickshire, in an episode that aired on 30 May 2011 (series 7, episode 7). According to the show's episode list on Wikipedia, owner Raman Bal had put money into a renovation, yet bookings had fallen, and his plans to build up a larger hotel business had turned into a fight to keep going. The list describes the property as a hotel with an inn.

The hotel's own website, checked on 2026-10-19, loaded and carried a last-modified date of 31 August 2026 in its server header. Its page text, however, links to a 2020 events list and a COVID-19 guidance document, advertises conferences, weddings, a golf club and a Fusion Bar & Brasserie, and includes a paragraph promoting casino sites that has nothing to do with the hotel.

Hotels.com lists the hotel at 81-87 Clifton Road, Rugby CV21 3QQ, with 125 reviews; the 25 it displays run from 4 July 2021 to 12 December 2022, and none is later. The listing also shows booking links for October and November 2026 but makes no statement that the hotel is open.

A Google Maps listing checked 2026-10-20 shows The Grosvenor Hotel Rugby at 81-87 Clifton Road, Rugby CV21 3QQ, operating, with the five newest guest reviews dated from 2026-03-22 to 2026-07-11. The listing gives grosvenorhotelrugby.co.uk as the hotel's website.
