What happened after The Hotel Inspector?
The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5) visited Brendan Chase, a bed-and-breakfast in the Lake District, in an episode that aired on 9 May 2011 (series 7, episode 4). According to the show's episode list on Wikipedia, it had 11 bedrooms and was run by David Maloney, who kept strict house rules and had largely stayed away from the internet, which put off some guests. An Accountancy Age blog post that refers to the previous day's episode (the page shows no date) described Maloney as a former chartered accountant who had avoided both the internet and a card payment machine, and said Alex Polizzi was won over by his self-deprecating style and charm.
Kayak's listing for a Brendan Chase gives the address as 1 College Road, Windermere LA23 1BU. Kayak's page, viewed on 2026-10-19, showed an 8.2 out of 10 score from 483 reviews and a booking search form with deals for 26 and 27 October, but it gave no review dates. A Google Maps record for Brendan Chase at 1 College Road lists the business as temporarily closed when checked on 2026-10-19. A temporary-closure marker does not say whether or when a business will take guests again, and the two listings point in different directions. No news report, owner statement or other dated source read describes the B&B's operations after the broadcast.
The Accountancy Age post and the Wikipedia list are the only sources read that tie the name Brendan Chase to the episode, and neither gives a street address; the Windermere location comes from the Kayak and Google Maps listings.
A Google Maps listing checked 2026-10-20 marks Brendan Chase at 1 College Road in Windermere temporarily closed, with no room rates offered, and one of its newest reviews says the guest house appears to have closed. The brendanchase.co.uk web address did not show the guest house's own site that day; it redirected to a placeholder page.
