What happened after The Hotel Inspector?
Breaks Fold Farm, a working hill farm at West End in the Washburn Valley, North Yorkshire, with a campsite and shepherd's-hut glamping, featured in the Hotel Inspector episode first shown on 2026-05-21 (series 21, episode 8). TheTVDB's entry says Alex Polizzi visited a couple who run both a farm and a hospitality business, two industries it describes as hard to make pay.
The Yorkshire Post, in an article by Liana Jacob published on 2026-08-04 and updated on 2026-08-07, reported that Richard Pullan, 49, is the fourth generation of his family to farm there, mainly breeding Swaledale, Herdwick and Mule sheep. It said he and his wife Louise added the campsite about ten years earlier to diversify. According to the article, the campsite lost part of its business during the Covid-19 pandemic, and Louise ran much of the business largely alone after Richard was injured in May 2023. Louise told the paper the business was not run down and that its difficulties came from outside factors.
The Yorkshire Post reported that Polizzi's advice included moving on from what had not worked, introducing self-check-in and offering extra breakfast items as optional add-ons. After the programme, the article said, self-check-in was introduced for the shepherd's huts and camping pitches, giving the owners more time on the farm. The site took on a more relaxed, European-style feel, extra breakfast items became available, and the owners reported positive feedback, more visitors and more website traffic. The article also noted the family's conservation work with Nidderdale National Landscapes and their low-input farming methods.
The farm's own website, titled "Campsite & Glamping Nidderdale | Breaks Fold Farm" and viewed on 2026-10-19, lists Richard and Louise Pullan as the fourth generation on the farm. It says the campsite was closed for the 2026 season while glamping remained open and bookable, and that 2027 camping and glamping bookings were live. The page carries no on-page date. A Google Maps listing for the farm, West End, Harrogate HG3 4BB, is marked operational.
