What happened after You Gotta Eat Here!?
The episode 'Klondike Rib and Salmon, Colette's Place, Sofra' aired 2013-03-08. According to TheTVDB's episode page, host John Catucci visited Klondike Rib and Salmon in Whitehorse and was served a rich, creamy elk stroganoff. The restaurant's name points to its ribs and salmon. It stands at 2116 2nd Avenue, and the history page on klondikerib.com describes the site as the two oldest operating buildings in Whitehorse; the dining room began around 1900 as a tent-frame bakery, and in 1929 the building housed a mail and freight business called Klondike Airways.
The Whitehorse Daily Star wrote on 2012-07-27 that long lineups outside the restaurant were a sure sign of summer in town. The restaurant's website lists a no-reservations policy and weekday and weekend hours, and its history page carries the line 'Under New Ownership' without a date. In October 2026 its home page displayed the line 'Final Day: Sept 24, 2026', with no note on whether that ends a season or the business, and a public Google listing read that month marks the restaurant temporarily closed.
CKRW (96.1 The Rush) reported on 2024-06-17 that Cara Millar and Brian Charmin bought Klondike Rib and Salmon from previous owner Donna Novecosky, who retired after the restaurant closed its doors in summer 2023, and that the new owners planned to operate it seasonally from May to September because the building lacks heating and insulation. A Yukon government page on a liquor licence application, with metadata dated 2024-05-24, names 842601 Yukon Inc. as the licensee doing business as Klondike Rib & Salmon at 2116 2nd Avenue and describes the premises as seasonal, operating early spring to late fall. The Yukon News Marketplace section reported on 2021-04-26 that the restaurant closed each fall and reopened around Mother's Day.
