What happened after You Gotta Eat Here!?

Mi Madre's Restaurant was the Austin stop in the July 3, 2015 episode of You Gotta Eat Here! ('Mi Madre's Mexican Restaurant, The Downtown Diner, Dianne's Fishbar'), which TVmaze summarizes as a visit to an Austin institution for breakfast tacos. The restaurant sits at 2201 Manor Road in East Austin. Its own website says Aurelio and Rosa Torres opened it in 1990 as a 10-seat taco shop that has since grown to two dining rooms, a patio and a to-go area. The Infatuation's May 10, 2022 review singled out the number 9 taco with machacado and eggs.

Chowhound's May 9, 2026 roundup of Austin breakfast tacos listed the restaurant at the same address and noted breakfast service through 3 p.m. every day but Monday. In October 2026 the restaurant's website listed hours of Tuesday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed Mondays, with to-go ordering through Toast.
