A review in The Cascade, the University of the Fraser Valley student paper, dated 2012-01-31 placed Rebar Modern Food at 50 Bastion Square and described a salmon burger, an herbed almond burger, smoothies and desserts, with vegan, vegetarian and pescetarian choices. A Via Rail blog post, undated but apparently written around the turn of 2020, called it an institution operating since 1988.

The page does not mention a name change, and the older rebarmodernfood.com address displayed only a placeholder on 2026-10-20.

A Google Maps listing checked 2026-10-20 shows Urban Rebar at 50 Bastion Square in Victoria, the address of the featured Rebar, operating with more than 1,200 Google reviews. According to urbanrebar.com, the venue trades as The Urban Rebar lounge and taphouse, keeps a 'Legendary Rebar Menu' page and dates itself to 1985. No source read says whether the original owners still run it.
