What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

Number Nine B&B in Torquay appeared in the fifth episode of series 4 of The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5), which aired on 2008-08-07. Wikipedia's episode list says Alex Polizzi set out to relaunch the property as a 1950s-style B&B. Ranker's entry for the episode describes a 12-room guest house that was losing both guests and money, with an owner who needed outside help. Neither source records how the visit turned out.

Two holiday-rental listings read on 2026-10-19 describe a house of the same name as a former guest house. The Abritel (Vrbo) listing for Number Nine Torquay calls it a former boutique guest house over four storeys with a hot tub, let as a holiday rental for large groups. Its host says the house featured in the Hotel Inspector programme, although the listing names Channel 4 rather than Channel 5. The newest review on that page is dated 2025-08-08 and the one before it 2024-07-10, and the page shows a 9.8 out of 10 rating from 19 reviews.

An Airbnb listing titled Boutique 4 storey home with Hot Tub - sleeps 24 also uses the name Number Nine and says the house is a former guest house. It lists eight bedrooms, with a lounge that can serve as a ninth, and its reviews carry no dates.

A Google Maps listing checked on 2026-10-19 shows Number Nine Torquay Holiday Home at 9 Old Torwood Road, Torquay TQ1 1PR, marked operational. Taken together, the listings show a self-catering holiday rental trading under a near-identical name where the bed-and-breakfast was. None of the pages read mention the original owner, the date of any change of use, or a sale.
