Part 1 — Season 4, Episode 4 Aired

West Usk Lighthouse, near Newport in south Wales, was the fourth episode of series 4 of The Hotel Inspector. ShowsPlus lists it as airing on Channel 5 on 2008-07-31 and describes a four-bedroom lighthouse on the edge of the Bristol Channel whose owners had run it for twenty years, found it through a classified advertisement, and had a base of loyal repeat guests but a business barely keeping its head above water. Wikipedia's list of The Hotel Inspector episodes describes it as a lighthouse B&B once voted Britain's most romantic.

The lighthouse returned to television twice. TVMaze lists a West Usk Lighthouse episode in series 15 of The Hotel Inspector aired on 2019-12-10, in which Alex Polizzi revisits a property she first saw in 2008 and finds that it had been profitable for a few years after her visit before occupancy fell. TVMaze also lists a West Usk Lighthouse episode of The Hotel Inspector Returns aired on 2021-08-05, in which she encourages the owners to clear clutter and attract new guests. The lighthouse's website, copyrighted 2022, describes an intimate wedding venue and historic home on Lighthouse Road, St Brides, Newport, NP10 8SF, hosting weddings since 2012 for up to 80 guests.

It says accommodation is no longer offered inside the building, though a restored one-bedroom lodge overlooking the water is available. Testimonials on the site are dated September 2019 and August 2021. A Google Places record lists the business as operational.

The Wedding Directory's listing for The West Usk Lighthouse showed a last-modified date of 13 August 2026 in its page metadata, with photographs uploaded in July 2026. A wedding brochure on the venue's site is headed 2027/2028 and lists Frank and Danielle Sheahan as owners, with a stay in The Light-Keeper's Lodge included in its Silver and Gold packages. Newport City Council's visitor page, which carries a 2026 copyright line, lists bed and breakfast in two double rooms and one family room, which differs from the venue's own site. Oyster's review, published in August 2024, described four guest rooms and named the owner as Frank, who bought the semi-derelict lighthouse in 1987.

Part 2 — Season 15, Episode 8 Aired

West Usk Lighthouse is a 200-year-old former lighthouse on Lighthouse Road at St Brides, near Newport, on the Severn Estuary. This was a revisit. Alex Polizzi first visited in Series 4, in an episode titled "West Usk Lighthouse B&B" that aired on 2008-07-31, according to Wikipedia's list of Hotel Inspector episodes. The revisit, "West Usk Lighthouse", aired as Series 15, episode 8 on 2019-12-10, according to TVmaze. TVmaze's summary says the business had been profitable for a few years after the first visit, but occupancy had steadily dropped under owners Frank and Danielle, and Alex reviewed the business and recommended a way forward. The Wikipedia list as read also carries a "West Usk (Revisit)" row in Series 16 dated 2021-08-05, describing a small lighthouse B&B whose reluctant owners Alex tries to persuade.

What has happened since: The venue's own website, which carries a 2022 copyright notice, presents West Usk as an intimate wedding venue and historic home for up to 80 guests, with a restored one-bedroom lodge and marquee hire. It names Danielle and Frank as owners, mentions weddings dated September 2019 and August 2021 in its testimonials, and says the owners no longer offer accommodation inside the lighthouse, although other text on the page still refers to a stay. Oyster's listing, published 2024-08-12 and modified 2025-05-20, describes a bed and breakfast with four guest rooms and carries a disclaimer that its content was accurate when the hotel was reviewed. The Wikipedia article on the lighthouse describes it as operating as a hotel, without a date. None of these sources is dated 2026, so current trading is not shown.
