What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

Brecon Castle Hotel was the first episode of series 4 of The Hotel Inspector and the first assignment for new host Alex Polizzi. ShowsPlus lists it as airing on Channel 5 on 2008-07-10 and describes a 43-bedroom hotel in Wales that had been neglected for decades. Its owners had no hotel background and had bought it on impulse after an agent warned them against it. Wikipedia's list of The Hotel Inspector episodes describes it as reputed to be the oldest hotel in Wales. The Caterer reported on 2009-03-03 that the Brecon Castle hotel was sold to a local hotelier, with an asking price of £1m, through the Cardiff office of Colliers Robert Barry, and noted that the hotel had been featured on the Channel 5 programme.

The Express & Star reported on 2025-04-20 (updated 2025-04-24) that The Castle of Brecon Hotel on Castle Square, which it called the oldest hotel in Wales, had finished a £3 million refurbishment begun the previous October, leaving 42 rooms, a restaurant and a bar, with 55 jobs created and a new general manager. The article described the hotel as part of the Coaching Inn Group. On 2026-10-19 the hotel's website listed 42 rooms, Christmas 2026 dining throughout December and a New Year's Eve event on 31 December 2026, and gave 1093 as the year the Norman fortress on the site was built. The website names the Coaching Inn Group as the group it belongs to.
