What happened after Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?

The Ace, at 231A Roncesvalles Avenue in Toronto, appeared in the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives episode “Layers of Flavor,” which aired 2013-03-18. Toronto Life's recap dated 2013-04-01 reported that the host tried deep-fried pork belly with potato salad, a mac-and-cheese burger and a Christmas burger, a turkey patty stuffed with stuffing and finished with cranberry compote, and it identified chef Peter McKnight. Toronto Life's opening profile, dated 2011-12-13, said Maggie Ruhl and Greg Boggs had turned a Roncesvalles space that held a Chinese restaurant, closed for almost two decades, into a vintage diner called The Ace.

The 2026 Michelin Guide Canada listing, viewed 2026-10-19, names Rafael Badell and Maggie Stackpole as the husband-and-wife team now running it and lists it as a Bib Gourmand, citing daytime dishes such as duck confit and mushroom toast and brioche French toast. Wikipedia's article, citing a Toronto Star report dated 2021-01-18, places the sale to the current owners in December 2020. The restaurant's website, last modified 2026-10-16, lists dinner and weekend brunch hours.
