What happened after Restaurant Makeover?
Casa Mendoza was a Toronto restaurant run by an owner named Teresa, and it was the subject of the episode titled "Casa Mendoza", which aired on 2007-02-12 as the eighteenth episode of the third season of Restaurant Makeover. That HGTV Canada series had a chef and a designer rework one restaurant on a limited budget and a short schedule, with the owners adding matching money; Wikipedia's page on the series says the match was originally up to $20,000 and was later lowered to $15,000. Rotten Tomatoes' season listing describes the episode in one sentence: the owner had put her heart and soul into the restaurant, but the results had not been strong. Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants names chef Lynn Crawford and designer Matt Robinson and places the restaurant in Toronto without a street or neighbourhood.
That one-sentence description is the only account of the episode found. No source read describes the menu, decor, staff or name changes made, or the relaunch.
Wikipedia's list carries a note, with no citation, saying that the original building was later demolished and that the site was cleared and developed into a condominium complex and the adjoining Silver Moon Drive. No news article, planning record or other dated source was found to confirm the demolition, its date, or the restaurant's address, so the note is reported here only as Wikipedia's wording. Searches for the restaurant by name returned nothing about a Toronto restaurant called Casa Mendoza, and a Google Places search returned Casa Madera on Wellington Street West, a differently named business that is not used here. The same list marks the restaurant as no longer open, again without a date or citation.
No information from 2025 or 2026 was found.
City of Toronto business licence records list Casa Mendoza Restaurant & Inn, operated by Oasis on the Lake Ltd at 2161 Lake Shore Boulevard West, licensed from 1999-05-06 until the licence was cancelled on 2011-12-07. The same records show no food business licensed at that address afterwards.

We work hard to keep every status accurate and dated, but restaurants change fast and our sources aren't perfect. If something here is wrong — a status, a name, an address, anything — tell us what you're seeing and where you saw it, and we'll check it.
