What Happened to Latitude Wine Bar and Grill After Restaurant Makeover?

Restaurant Makeover, Season 3 Toronto, Ontario

Current status

Closed

As of October 2026, Latitude Wine Bar and Grill has closed — confirmed via nowtoronto.com, April 10, 2008.

What the source shows: NOW Toronto's 2008-04-10 review places a different restaurant, the Harbord Room, at 89 Harbord St in the space earlier occupied by Eduardo's (the name Latitude took after the makeover) and, before that, Latitude, so the featured business was gone by early 2008. What happened after Restaurant Makeover?

Latitude Wine Bar and Grill was a small restaurant at 89 Harbord Street in Toronto. NOW Toronto reviewed it on 2004-04-22 as an intimate 30-seat bistro run by its owner, Eduardo, with a Latin-influenced menu that included a brunch dish of herbed scrambled eggs on a flour tortilla, a French toast variation with guava jelly, a beef burger and a seafood patty on a bun. Its episode, titled "Latitude Wine Bar and Grill", aired on 2007-03-05 as the twenty-first episode of the third season of Restaurant Makeover.

That HGTV Canada series had a chef and a designer rework one restaurant on a limited budget and a short schedule, with the owners adding matching money. Rotten Tomatoes' season listing calls the restaurant a Mexican fine dining restaurant, and Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants names chef David Adjey and designer Robin Fraser.

The Globe and Mail ran an undated review of the restaurant at the same Harbord Street address. It reported that the show redid Latitude at the end of 2006, that the restaurant took the name Eduardo's after the makeover, and that the owner had bought Latitude in 2001. No source read describes the problems shown on screen, the menu or decor changes, or the relaunch in detail.

In a separate undated article about a later Restaurant Makeover project, Dooney's Café in the Annex, The Globe and Mail said the face-lifted Latitude and two other restaurants were by then closed. Neither Globe page shows a publication date, so the timing of that report cannot be placed beyond coming after the episode, . A Google Places search for the featured name returned Region Food + Wine Bar on Front Street East, which is a differently named business that is not used here. Wikipedia's list marks the restaurant as no longer open, but gives no date or citation.

The Globe and Mail said in an undated review of Eduardo's that Restaurant Makeover redid Latitude at the end of 2006 and that the restaurant took the name Eduardo's. NOW Toronto reported on 2008-04-10, in a review by Steven Davey, that the Harbord Room was operating at 89 Harbord Street, at Spadina, in the space earlier occupied by Eduardo's and Latitude. An undated Globe and Mail review of the Harbord Room described the room as having been Eduardo's for 2007 and, before that, Latitude.
