What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

Sparkles Hotel in Blackpool appeared in series 2 of The Hotel Inspector, in an episode aired 2006-07-27. Wikipedia's list of The Hotel Inspector episodes (read 2026-10-19) describes a children's-themed hotel run by a former teacher, which had cost more than £1 million to set up yet was short of guests despite a prime location. Ruth Watson was the inspector.

Web searches on the hotel name returned general Blackpool hotel directories and TV listings, and a Google Maps lookup returned Bromptons Hotel on Charnley Road, which nothing read connects to Sparkles.

The Blackpool Gazette reported on 24 July 2018 that the Blackpool Housing Company, set up by the council to buy defunct former guesthouses, had secured planning permission to convert the former Victoria and Sparkles hotels on Station Road in South Shore into nine flats and two maisonettes. According to the same article, the two four-storey hotels had not traded and had stood empty over recent years, and Sparkles Hotel had appeared on Channel 5's Hotel Inspector in 2006.
