What happened after Project Bakeover?

Whisk Cake Company, a Kelowna, British Columbia, bakery on Rutland Road North, was featured in the fifth episode of Project Bakeover (Food Network Canada), "A Fresh Start," which aired 2021-03-04. Wikipedia's episode table credits the new items from pastry chef Steve Hodge as a croissant, a baked brioche donut and pastries made with locally sourced fruit from the Okanagan Valley. According to Wikipedia, the series sends Hodge and designer Tiffany Pratt into struggling bakeries to remake their menus and decor. No source read for this entry described the bakery's problems in the episode or the details of the new decor.

The Kelowna Capital News gave the most detail on how the bakery fared afterward. In an article published 2022-07-22 (Jordy Cunningham), the paper called the business Whisk Bakery and Cafe and reported that it had served Kelowna for about 15 years, the last 11 at 207 Rutland Road North. The paper wrote that Whisk had struggled during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and was saved when Food Network Canada featured it and gave it a full renovation. The same article reported that the bakery announced on Facebook on 2022-07-20 that it would remain open until Saturday, 2022-07-30, and it quoted the post: "We want to thank everyone for supporting our small business." The article did not give a reason for the closing and did not name the owners.

Other listings show the business under both names. A WeddingWire Canada profile, whose newest customer review is dated 2020-09-18, lists Whisk Cake Company at 203 Rutland Road N and describes it as a specialty bakery offering wedding cakes, cake pops, cookies, croquembouche and pastries. A Google Places record retrieved 2026-10-19 lists Whisk Bakery + Cafe at 203 Rutland Rd N as temporarily closed. No later report of a reopening, or of a different business at the address, was found.
