What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5) episode "Yeoldon House Hotel, Bideford" aired June 12, 2018. According to TheTVDB's episode entry, Yeoldon House Hotel was a ten-bed hotel owned by a retired couple, John and Ilona, who had spent thousands of pounds on it. Occupancy was below 10 percent, and host Alex Polizzi arrived with a plan to address that. The OpenStreetMap record used for its location names the property Yeoldon House Hotel and Soyer's Restaurant.

HotelOwner reported on February 18, 2020 that the hotel was sold for 995,000 pounds to an operator it described as experienced; the rest of that article was behind a paywall, so the buyer's plans were not visible.

By 2026 the house was being marketed as a holiday rental rather than a hotel. Marsdens Cottages lists Yeoldon House as a self-catering holiday home at Northam, near Westward Ho!, Devon, sleeping 20 in ten bedrooms with ten bathrooms, and describes it as a former hotel with stained-glass windows and generous reception rooms. The guest reviews on the Marsdens page run from November 2024 to August 2026. Canine Cottages lists the same house as sleeping 20 with up to five dogs allowed, asks wedding enquirers to make contact before booking, and shows a most recent review dated August 9, 2026; one reviewer in February 2026 called it an old hotel. Neither listing mentions the former hotel restaurant or room-by-room accommodation. The hotel's former website, yeoldonhousehotel.co.uk, did not load when checked on October 19, 2026.
