What happened after You Gotta Eat Here!?
The Season 2 episode "Holy Grill; The Flying Spatula; Chewiest Steam," which aired 2013-04-05, included Chewies Steam and Oyster Bar in Vancouver, which TheTVDB's episode overview describes as a southern-style brunch spot that treats seafood as breakfast food; host John Catucci tried shrimp and grits and crab cakes with eggs. The Georgia Straight reported on 2012-02-22 that the Kitsilano restaurant at 2201 West 1st Avenue, at Yew Street, was a new Cajun and Creole spot with a New Orleans theme, co-owned by Richard Chew with Mel and Jamie Haddad, serving gumbo, jambalaya, po' boys, fried chicken and Fanny Bay oysters. The Daily Hive listed it as Chewies Steam & Oyster Bar on 2016-06-02, with a daily happy hour featuring a Buck-a-Shuck oyster special. Destination Vancouver, on an undated page, lists a Chewies Oyster Bar at the same address, and OpenStreetMap lists evening hours for it.
FanVancouver's guide for the 2026 World Cup lists Chewies Oyster Bar at 2201 West 1st Avenue with evening hours from Tuesday to Sunday, and says it last checked hours for Kitsilano venues in July 2026. The restaurant's website, chewies.ca, gives the same address and the telephone number 604-558-4448, which a Daily Hive list dated 2017-12-20 also gave for Chewies Steam & Oyster Bar. The website uses the shorter name Chewies Oyster Bar and also lists a Coal Harbour location.
