What happened after Restaurant Makeover?
The Restaurant Makeover episode titled "De Great Iron Pot" aired on Food Network Canada on 2008-12-08, the tenth episode of the fifth season. The Rotten Tomatoes episode guide gives it a general description: two restaurant industry top guns overhauled a struggling restaurant. Wikipedia's list of the show's renovated restaurants places the restaurant in Scarborough, Ontario. Neither source describes the cuisine, the owners, the problems the restaurant had, the changes to the menu, decor or staff, the budget, or the relaunch, so none of those details appear here.
Wikipedia's table, which is compiled by editors and was used only as a pointer, lists the restaurant as not open and carries no note, date or named source for that. Two web searches, one for the name with Scarborough and one for the name with Restaurant Makeover and Food Network Canada, returned restaurant roundups for Scarborough in England, TV listing pages, and a directory page for a different Scarborough, Ontario restaurant. None mentioned a business called De Great Iron Pot.
A Google Places search for the name returned Big Way Hot Pot at 1571 Sandhurst Cir in Scarborough. The name and concept differ, and nothing read links it to De Great Iron Pot, so its address and listing were not used. No street address was found for the restaurant, so the entry is not placed on the map. The title appears as De Great Iron Pot in both the Rotten Tomatoes guide and Wikipedia's list, and that spelling is kept.
Media in Canada described Restaurant Makeover at its launch as a Food Network Canada series in which two well-known industry figures take on a struggling restaurant and overhaul it. That general format, the 2008 air date and the one-line guide entry are the only documented facts about this episode in the material read. The restaurant's fate rests entirely on the Wikipedia table's unsourced entry, which lists it as not open, which is why no status is asserted here.
Yelp's listing for De Great Iron Pot, a Caribbean restaurant at 55 Nugget Avenue in Scarborough, checked 2026-10-20, marks it closed, and a Google Maps search the same day returned no listing for the restaurant. Wikipedia's table of Restaurant Makeover restaurants also lists it as no longer open.
