What happened after Restaurant Takeover?

Naan & Kabob, an Afghan restaurant run by siblings, was the eleventh episode of Restaurant Takeover (Food Network Canada), airing on 2012-11-08. TVmaze's synopsis describes a restaurant that was the glue holding its sibling owners together, but with business slow, the synopsis says this unit was close to pulling the family apart. The show sent chef Massimo Capra and designer Alison Milne to rescue the restaurant and the family. TheTVDB's episode entry and TV Guide's season listing give the same outline, with TV Guide describing an Afghan restaurant run by siblings that was struggling with slow business.

None of the entries I read names a city, an address or an owner, and none itemizes the new menu, decor or any change of name or describes how the relaunch went, so this entry does not describe them.

Naan Kabob is a Toronto-based Afghan brand. Retail Insider reported on 2024-01-16, in an interview with development vice president Fahim Ahmadi by Shelby Hautala, that the company began in 2010 as a family-owned business and operated ten locations in the Toronto area. The article described plans for new locations in Newmarket, Hamilton and Niagara Falls and a goal of 25 locations across Canada by 2028. It does not mention the television show.

Streets of Toronto lists a location at 691 Yonge Street and describes the founders as a family of immigrants from Afghanistan; the page carries a modified date of 2026-07-25 and a note that its details were current through 2024. The brand's website, read on 2026-10-19, carried a 2026 copyright notice and an online-ordering link, and its description says it serves Toronto and Mississauga. A map search returned a Naan Kabob at 90 Annagem Boulevard in Mississauga, but nothing ties that location, or the Yonge Street one, to the episode.

City of Toronto business licence records list a Naan and Kabob at 1801 Lawrence Avenue East, Unit 12, held by Naan and Kabob Inc. from 2010-11-05; it is the only licence under that name in the city's open data before 2016, and the latest entry for the unit was issued 2026-09-09. A Google Maps listing checked 2026-10-20 shows a Naan Kabob at 1801 Lawrence Avenue East in Scarborough operating, with the newest reviews dated 2026-06-09, 2026-05-03 and 2026-03-13. None of the sources read names the show or says this is the unit that appeared in the episode, so the link rests on the name and the licence dates.
