What happened after Restaurant Makeover?
Hollingers was a Toronto restaurant and sports bar featured in the Restaurant Makeover episode aired on 2007-12-17. The series paired a chef with a designer to overhaul a restaurant on a limited budget, with the owner's funds matched by the production. TV Guide's season listing says owners Peter and Athena wanted the sports bar to become a family restaurant. Designer Cherie Stinson would not compromise on her design, which frustrated the build crew's Igor, and chef Lynn Crawford was impressed by Peter's cooking and visited his uncle Louie at his butcher shop.
Rotten Tomatoes' synopsis names only The Hollinger Restaurant. The sources read give no menu, budget or relaunch details. TV Guide's season list places the episode twelfth, and Rotten Tomatoes lists it between the Richmond Rogue episode aired on 2007-12-10 and the Golden Flame Restaurant episode aired on 2007-12-24. Both sites describe that fourth season as 26 episodes long.
A Serial Diners agenda page at probability.ca, in an entry dated 2006-06-09, lists Hollinger's Restaurant & Sports Bar at 1026 Coxwell Avenue, just south of O'Connor in Toronto's east end. No page read mentions the television show, so the tie between that listing and the episode rests on the matching name, the sports-bar format and the city. Wikipedia's list of Restaurant Makeover restaurants gives the location as Toronto, pairs Crawford with Stinson, and marks the restaurant as not still open, with no date or source for that mark.
The sources read therefore do not show whether the restaurant reopened after the makeover, how long it operated afterwards, or whether Peter and Athena ran another business.
City of Toronto business licence records list Hollinger's Restaurant & Sports Bar, operated by 1625359 Ontario Inc at 1026 Coxwell Avenue, with licences running from 2004-07-21 until the last one was cancelled on 2009-09-15. According to the same records, Remarks Bar & Grill was licensed at the address from that day until 2017-07-19, and no food business has been licensed there since.
