What happened after You Gotta Eat Here!?
On the episode 'Shine Café, Banh Mi Boys, Smoke & Spice Southern Barbeque' (aired 2013-03-15), TheTVDB's overview says host John Catucci meets a Scottish chef serving rich Bennies and hash, including the 'Ooo Benny' made with sweet potato mash, grilled turkey, onion rings and maple hollandaise. BC Living's brunch roundup, dated 2016-05-18, described Shine Café as a family-owned spot serving a full Scottish breakfast and eggs Benedict variations, including one built on perogies, and listed two Victoria locations, at 1548 Fort Street and 1320 Blanshard. The cafe's own website calls it famous for gourmet versions of breakfast classics, lists 1548 Fort Street with hours of 8am to 2pm daily for dine-in and take-out, and refers visitors to its Instagram account for holiday hours. A Google Places entry read in October 2026 lists the Fort Street cafe as operational.
Fernwood NRG reported on 2021-12-03 that Shine Café, owned by Lauren Thomson, had served breakfast since 2004 on the Fort Street side of the Stadacona Centre. The cafe's own menu page, whose page metadata shows a last-modified date of 2026-02-04, lists about ten Eggs Benedict options priced at $22 to $23, including a Polish version with house pierogies, and repeats daily hours of 8am to 2pm for dine-in and take-out. A HappyCow listing shows a most recent review dated 2024-07-20.
