In the episode 'Flavor19, Louisiana Purchase, Rocket Bakery and Fresh Food' (aired 2013-03-15), TheTVDB's overview says Louisiana Purchase in Edmonton serves spicy Creole dishes such as alligator kabobs, and that the host also gets an alligator in the city. Daily Hive reported on 2024-01-30 that the restaurant opened in 1989 in a downtown location and later moved to 13503 St. Albert Trail NW in north Edmonton. An Edmonton Sun article dated 2014-02-25, reposted on the HicksBiz site, named Louisiana Purchase among four Greater Edmonton restaurants serving Creole or Cajun food.
Daily Hive also reported on 2024-01-30 that the St. Albert Trail restaurant appeared to have quietly closed its doors, that Google and OpenTable listed it as permanently closed, and that its website had been deactivated; the article included no statement from the restaurant. A Google Maps listing read on 2026-10-19 also marks the business permanently closed.
