What happened after Restaurant Takeover?

The Curzon, a party bar at 1192 Queen Street East in Toronto's Leslieville neighborhood, was the twelfth episode of Restaurant Takeover (Food Network Canada) season two, aired on 2013-11-13. According to TVmaze's episode page, the bar earned next to nothing on weekdays and carried high property costs, which left its future looking uncertain. General manager JJ had his own money in the business and asked the show for help bringing in the dinner crowd. The page names chef Corbin Tomaszeski and Paula Velez as the team, without giving Velez a title, and asks whether they could keep the bar, which JJ treats as a home away from home, from being sold. TV Guide's season-two listing also places the episode in Toronto.

The pages read do not describe what the makeover changed, such as a new menu, new decor or a relaunch date. A blogTO page on The Curzon, which is undated and does not mention the show, gives background on the room. It describes a bar in the former Queen Medical building that the reviewer found spacious and eclectically decorated, with chandeliers, estate furniture and reused ceiling tiles, and a short menu of tapas and snacks priced at roughly $7 to $10. It lists a live DJ on Friday and Saturday, karaoke on Sunday and an industry night on Monday, and says the bar opened every night from 5 pm and had no patio yet. The page carries no date, so it serves as background on the room and not as a record of the rescue.

A Google Maps listing for The Curzon at 1192 Queen Street East, checked on 2026-10-19, marks the bar as permanently closed; the listing gives the postal code M4M 1L6 for the Leslieville address. The sources read do not say when it stopped operating or whether another business now uses the space.
