What Happened to The Milton Lodge After The Hotel Inspector?

The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5) visited The Milton Lodge in Dorset in an episode that aired on 3 October 2011 (series 8, episode 1). According to TheTVDB's episode page, the country hotel stood in six acres with stables, an outdoor pool and a cricket pitch, and its ten bedrooms were filled with the owners' collectables. The owners, who had lived there for more than 20 years, had stopped letting the whole property for events, which cut their income. Alex Polizzi concluded that the hotel needed to modernise to draw more guests, and she looked to the couple's long-serving assistant as a key to its future. The show's episode list on Wikipedia places it only in Dorset.

The episode sources do not name the village. The entry uses Milton on Stour, near Gillingham (SP8 5QD), because a Cvent venue page lists a Milton Lodge Hotel there and a Google Maps record for Milton Lodge Hotel at that postcode gives the website milton-manor.co.uk. No source read links that hotel to the television episode.

The Milton Manor website describes the building as a former family home and hotel and a refurbished 14-bedroom Georgian house, and it offers accommodation, weddings and events; its page metadata shows a modification date of 22 January 2025, and it does not mention Milton Lodge. Snaptrip lists Milton Manor as a 14-bedroom holiday rental for up to 33 guests in six acres of gardens, and its page carries a 2026 copyright notice.

A Food Standards Agency register listing shows a business named Milton Lodge Hotel at the address Milton Manor, Milton on Stour, Dorset SP8 5QD, which places the hotel's name at the building that the Milton Manor website describes. A Google Maps listing checked 2026-10-20 for Milton Lodge Hotel at that postcode gives milton-manor.co.uk as its website, and the newest guest review on that listing is dated 2019-07-08.
