What happened after You Gotta Eat Here!?
Ben & Izzy's Deli, a kosher delicatessen on Bathurst Street in Toronto's north end, was part of the You Gotta Eat Here! episode "Ben & Izzy's Deli, Rinos, Little Louie's Burger Joint & Soupery" (S3E17, Food Network Canada, aired 2014-06-06). According to TheTVDB's episode description, host John Catucci kept kosher by putting beef bacon on a chicken club sandwich. BlogTO's restaurant page describes the club as grilled chicken thighs with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on a challah bun with house-made beef bacon, and says co-owners Ben Venasio and Izzy Bernath butcher, brine and smoke their own meats.
The Canadian Jewish News reported that the deli opened in 2013 and that a two-alarm basement fire was reported there on 2015-12-28; the deli told the paper it would be closed for a few months. A Google Maps listing checked on 2026-10-19 marks Ben & Izzy's Deli at 3513 Bathurst Street as permanently closed.
