Is La Mexicana Still Open? Restaurant Impossible: Last Call (FN) Update

La Mexicana is a Mexican restaurant at 3337 Bathurst Street in North York, Ontario, part of the Toronto area. It was the second episode of Restaurant Impossible: Last Call (Food Network), the spin-off of Restaurant: Impossible (Food Network) hosted by chef Aarón Sánchez and Toronto restaurateur Jen Agg. The episode, “Family Heat,” aired 2026-07-30.

The problems shown: Food Network's series page summarized the episode as a son trying to save his mother's life's work in a 37-year-old restaurant. TVmaze's episode guide added that the business was carrying high-interest debt and paying delivery-app fees, that the owner held to older ways of doing things, and that her son, a classically trained chef, asked Sánchez and Agg to help fill empty seats. Food Network's announcement of the series said the show aims for deeper fixes than quick changes, with each episode working through the particular problems of the business.

On 2026-10-19 the restaurant's website listed the Bathurst Street address and a phone number and described the food with a tagline reading chicken and beef halal. An older ordering page on the site said ordering from that page was no longer available and pointed to a newer ordering page. The newer page showed pickup, delivery and dine-in options, a CA$10 delivery fee and a full menu. The menu included appetizers such as empanadas and ceviche, house specialties including pollo con mole and cochinita pibil, taco platters, desserts, and a cantina list of cocktails, beers and tequilas, along with catering items priced separately by phone. The site also linked to reservations, loyalty and contact pages. A Google Maps listing for the address showed it as operational on 2026-10-19.
