Is Grand Hotel (Grand Hastings) Still Open? The Hotel Inspector Update

The Grand Hotel in Hastings, East Sussex, was the subject of a series 3 episode of The Hotel Inspector aired 2007-09-06. Wikipedia's list of The Hotel Inspector episodes (read 2026-10-19) says only that Ruth Watson set out to transform the hotel, and shows a follow-up episode, "Grand Hotel (Revisited)", dated 4 June 2008, in a short 2008 run revisiting earlier hotels.

No source read gives the hotel's street address as broadcast. A Google Maps lookup returned a business called Grand Hastings at 1-2 Grand Parade, St Leonards-on-Sea (TN37 6AQ). Its website, grandhastings.co.uk, read 2026-10-19, shows a 2026 copyright line, describes licensed boutique accommodation with a bar, restaurant and lounge, carries a guest review marked as a stay in August 2026, and gives a building history that begins with two houses in 1831 and does not mention a Grand Hotel past, although that name appears in some of its file paths.

TheTVDB's episode description said the Grand Hotel was a 17-room seafront hotel owned by Peter Mann, who had run it for 18 years and was losing business to newer budget hotels in Hastings. The website of Grand Hastings, at 1 Grand Parade, St Leonards-on-Sea (TN37 6AQ), read on 2026-10-19, says the property was featured in Channel Five's The Hotel Inspector with Ruth Watson, shows a 2026 copyright line and carries a guest review of a stay in August 2026. A Hotels.com listing for Grand Hastings, read the same day, shows guest reviews dated between 24 May and 31 August 2026.
