What happened after The Hotel Inspector?

The Bellingham Hotel, at 141 Wigan Lane in Wigan, was featured in the fourth episode of series 9 of The Hotel Inspector (Channel 5), first aired on 2012-07-26. Wikipedia's episode list, read on 2026-10-19, titles it "The Bellingham Hotel + B&B + Restaurant" and says Alex Polizzi was asked to help a hotel in Wigan regain its former standing. The list does not detail the changes made after the visit.

Wigan Today reported on 2016-10-20 that a housing bid sought permission for five houses on the car park behind the hotel, which would have required demolishing a section at the rear. The paper reported that the hotel was under new management and that manager Dean Prescott said the hotel, bar and function room would not be affected. On 2024-04-24 Wigan Today published a photo gallery looking back over more than 40 years of the hotel on Wigan Lane. The paper reported that the building had stood empty for a few years and that its owners were unsure what to do with it. The gallery's captions name Karen Mundy as general manager and Jennifer Hunter as marketing manager from the hotel's working years, and mention a restaurant relaunch as The 141 Restaurant. Neither article mentions the television episode.

A Google Places listing for The Bellingham Hotel at 141 Wigan Lane, Wigan, WN1 2NB, checked on 2026-10-19, marks the business as permanently closed. None of the sources read gives the date the hotel stopped taking guests.
