What happened after Restaurant Makeover?
Side Door Grill, in Toronto, was the eleventh episode of Restaurant Makeover's third season and first aired on 2006-12-18. Rotten Tomatoes' episode guide gives only a one-line description, that the Side Door Grill gets a makeover. Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants names Lynn Crawford as the chef and Matt Robinson as the designer. NOW Toronto reported on 2010-03-30 that Crawford was the star of Food Network's Restaurant Makeover and that reruns of the series were then airing on Food Network on Thursdays; that article does not mention this episode.
No source reviewed describes the grill's problems, its owners, the budget, the new menu or decor, or the relaunch. The episode's only documented facts in these sources are its title, its air date and the chef and designer pairing, and nothing further is supplied here.
Wikipedia's list of renovated restaurants marks the Side Door Grill as no longer open, without a year or reason; that is a lead from a show list, and no second source was found. A Google Places lookup on 2026-10-19 returned The Side Door Grill and Tap at 240 W Gilman St in Madison, Wisconsin. It is a different business in a different country, so neither its address nor its website was used. Two web searches that day for the Toronto grill, one pairing the name with the show and the chef and one pairing it with Toronto and the word pub, returned pages about similarly named or unrelated businesses, a Toronto pub listing and lists of approved teletheatres. None was matched to the grill from the show. No Toronto address was found, so no map coordinates are recorded.
City of Toronto business licence records list Sidedoor Grill, operated by 2055390 Ontario Inc at 771 Dundas Street West, licensed from 2004-12-09 until the licence was cancelled on 2007-04-26, a few months after the episode aired. According to the same records, Yu-Shan Dumpling Cuisine was licensed at the address from that day, followed by Eastern Legend Asian Cuisine, Banu Foods Wines & Spirits and Chop Chop, and Chop Chop Good Food Fast has held an active licence there since 2025-08-05.

We work hard to keep every status accurate and dated, but restaurants change fast and our sources aren't perfect. If something here is wrong — a status, a name, an address, anything — tell us what you're seeing and where you saw it, and we'll check it.
